Building a Point Plan for Comparison
A point plan orders your comparison points—by theme, technique, or effect—so each paragraph builds logically toward your thesis, which is exactly what Criterion C rewards.
Once you have a working thesis for your Paper 1 comparative essay, the next question is: in what order should your points appear? A point plan is a short list, made before you start writing, that sequences your comparison points so the essay develops an argument rather than presenting a list of disconnected observations. Examiners are explicitly rewarded for organisation under Criterion C (organisation and development), and a strong point plan is the single fastest way to guarantee that structure shows up on the page.
